Flexo Concepts introduced a new refinement to its doctor blade MicroTip technology at Labelexpo Europe 2017.
The modification to the MicroTip design doubles the tip’s stiffness at the contact point to further enhance metering precision on high line screen anilox rolls. An improvement to the manufacturing process also produces a smoother contact edge, eliminating start-up lines, an issue sometimes faced by non-metallic doctor blade users. Lab and field testing has yielded positive results and the company is excited to share its latest doctor blade innovation with the European label printing market.
Since its release to the market in 2013, TruPoint Orange polymer doctor blade with a MicroTip has been endorsed by numerous press manufacturers and is currently shipping as the standard blade on many new machine installations. At Labelexpo, Orange featured on equipment by AB Graphic, Cartes, Domino, Edale, Focus, Werosys and others.
Flexo Concepts and partners feature Liqueur Label and Tasting
Flexo Concepts and fellow flexo suppliers banded together once again to showcase their latest product advancements at Labelexpo Europe 2017. The project was a collaboration between Esko, Flexo Concepts, Harper, MacDermid, Siegwerk, Raflatac, Dirty Water Distillery and Clemson’s Sonoco Institute of Packaging.
This year, the group produced a unique bottle label featuring five-colour modified process printing, metallic ink, custom die lines and high-quality print.
Utilizing UV Flexo L39-5 inks from Siegwerk, TruPoint Orange doctor blades from Flexo Concepts, a Konsberg digital cutter from Esko, 1200-line screen aniloxes from Harper, Digital Rave printing plates from MacDermid exposed on Esko’s new Crystal XPS System, and VANISH label stock from Raflatac, the label was printed at the Sonoco Institute of Packaging on an OMET VaryFlex 530 press.
Dirty Water Distillery provided bottles of their honey liqueur from their micro-distillery located in the heart of Flexo Concepts’ hometown, Plymouth, Massachusetts. This liqueur was handcrafted from the finest ingredients, local honey and a variety of spices, to provide a delicious cordial for visitors to taste at Labelexpo Europe.
Each supplier offered tastings of this exclusive “Bee Sting” honey liqueur at their Labelexpo stands while showcasing the label. Visitors could see the label and tried a sample at the following stands at the show:
