Mr.Puneet Aggarwal of DGM-Global, speaks about the company’s products, markets and future plans.
With more than 30 years of continuous research, development and innovation, Degang Machinery (DGM) has become a major supplier in the high-end packaging market with sales in more than 75 countries including Europe, America and Southeast Asia. Besides the China facility, the company has established the DGM India automated factory, an independent production base with an aim to further improve the company’s overseas business layout and optimize product structure, thereby strengthening its development layout in the South Asian subcontinent. India’s DGM automated factory completed construction at the end of 2019, with a total construction area of 30,000 square feet, and began production and sales. The production plans include automatic folder gluers, automatic die-cutting hot stamping machines, and high-speed laminating machines.
DGM is a leader in carton converting solutions in China in particular and the world at large with their strategic investment in India too. DGM is an approx. 40 years old company with current manufacturing facility of approx 57000 sqmeters. DGM is producing folder gluer from 550mm size to 3200mm size, Automatic die-cutter of 1050 and 1650 size , Hot Foil stamping of 1050 size and Automatic flute laminator of 1450/1650 size. In addition to these machine, DGM is also producing some speciality machines for value added cartons. DGM started in year 1985 and is today exporting to almost all major countries in Asia, Europe, Africa , Middle East and North & South America, besides India. DGM machines stand out from the competition for their merit.
“It is a highly competitive segment, however, we sell on our merits,” says Mr.Puneet Aggarwal of DGM-Global. “3 C’s are the unique properties which make our customers choose our solutions. The 3 C’s are: Capabilities, Capacity and Cost of product,” avows Puneet.
“Every country has specific need and choice and we are mostly at either number 1 or number 2 position worldwide. Again 3C is important for every decision,” he states.
Every minute part of manufacturing is taken care of to utmost detail. A dedicated R&D team works closely with the chairman Mr.Lin Zhirong for faster decisions and enhancement. “Metallurgy off course is a key factor for the longevity and return on capital involved and we duly take care of that area. We have our own software team for the machine program,” explains Puneet.
The machines stand at par with the best available anywhere in terms of ease of operation as well as speed. “Based on our customers’ feedback, we see our machines doing the most satisfactory job here. Our customers are extremely happy with the performance. We do offer best of the speed in the industry be it Folder gluer (500 meters/min), diecutter/hot foil stamping (7500 sheets /hr) or flute laminator (160 meters/min),” asserts Puneet.
Besides, DGM boasts many patents registered in their name.
The unexpected events resulting from the pandemic have changed the packaging industry. “It was a tough time for everyone and we learned hard lessons too but luckily packaging was not so hard hit. We not only survived but also grew with implementation of quite a few expansion plans too,” shares Puneet who is quite optimistic about his future plans of expansion, which he says would be revealed later.
“We are world’s largest and best folder gluer manufacturer. Besides, we have couple of more products in R&D and market-test stage to be declared later,” continues Puneet.
DGM has sold close to 1000 machines last year. With presence in over 7 countries in addition to home country China, DGM has successfully sold its products in the Indian subcontinent as well. Their future plans for India include engaging more in the “Make-in-India” platform being urged by the Indian government. “Of course, that’s an attractive plan – to make machines in India for the local and export markets. We are waiting Indian borders to open for China,” says Puneet.
After sales services in most of the countries are taken care of by local offices established by the company. Wherever they don’t have local presence, the India and China teams handle the after sales support.
DGM had a successful participation at the recently concluded Print China 2023 exhibition at Dongguan. “Print China was extremely successful. We would be attending two more shows in China viz. Sino Corrugated and All in Print China and one more in India i.e. India Corr.,” says Puneet. Besides, they would be present at the drupa next year and will be showcasing their product range at a big booth in Germany.
