Edubook has opted for Tecnau Libra 800 Book Finishing at drupa 2016 for high-end digital book finishing. Swiss book manufacturer, Edubook provides a 360° service to its customers looking for personalized content and an efficient process from order entry to delivery. Edubook inkjet digital print technology along with advanced workflow management, print and finishing technologies bring high quality books, quick delivery time and competitive pricing for customers.

Rolls will be pre-printed on the Ocè ColorStream 3700 and finished nearline on Libra 800 in a roll-to-finished-book integrated process. The system has been configured by Edubook with one input channel from roll, along with slit merge and dual web cutter to produce variable book-blocks. The solution features in addition a cut-sheet feeder in order to add inserts on demand to the book composition and dynamically collect input paper from roll and from cut-sheets.

Variable book blocks are automatically delivered to Libra VB, Variable Binder, which is connected online to Libra VT, Variable Three-Knife Trimmer. The system feeds standard cover sizes and cuts them down in length and width with spine scoring according to the book block being processed for complete variability book by book in the same run.

Edubook’s investment includes an upgrade on the printer front end in order to sort print jobs according to multiple and customized criteria. As the Libra 800 can process jobs in any sequence without affecting throughput and without operator intervention, Edubook can optimize production according to other parameters important for their customers, such as paper quality, urgency or delivery location and more, in order to optimize internal and external logistics and better support their customer needs.
