Abdos diversifies with CDI technology
New Delhi-based Abdos Lamitubes bought a new CDI Spark 2530 enabled with HD Flexo to support its new flexo printing division. Abdos is one of the largest tube manufacturing companies in India. Two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants at Guwahati and Roorkee manufacture high quality and versatile multilayer laminated tubes to cater to demands of various sectors including pharma, FMCG, cosmetics, oral care etc.
Abdos has decided to diversify into flexo printing and partnered with Esko for the supply of the entire pre-press software and flexo platemaking system. Abdos has also orders a DuPont FAST 2000 TD Thermal Solvent-Free Flexographic Plate Processor. Abdos have been using letterpress for their lemitubes and now they have Esko workflow with HD flexo capability for flexo printing. The CDI Spark 2530 and Cyrel FAST 2000 TD are first such installation in the east Indian region.
CDI Crystal 5080 XPS for Uflex
India’s largest flexible packaging company, Uflex has invested in India’s second CDI Crystal 5080 XPS and also CDI Spark 4260 enabled HD Flexo Pixel+. The CDI Crystal 5080 XPS is digital UV LED with simultaneous front and back exposure capabilities. The latest top of the line system will be installed in Uflex’s flexo division at Noida. They will be moving their rotogravure jobs to flexo, bring in more consistency, standardisation across all units and completely error-free production workflow.
Esko CDI along with MacDermid plates for Digiflex
Another key deal for Esko came in when Hyderabad-based Digiflex bought their second flexo pre-press line Esko CDI Spark 5080. For Esko, the Digiflex deal got finalised after a detailed interaction over a period of time. “Digiflex has very high quality standards and we are happy to partner with them with Esko providing the technological support and MacDermid providing high end plate solutions. We look forward to a great partnership ahead,” says Jesper Bringstrom, MacDermid.
Talking on the new relationship with Digiflex and MacDermid, Esko’s John Winderam comments, “MacDermid technology fits well with the quality objectives of Digiflex. This partnership between Esko, Digiflex and MacDermid means, we are building new relations. We are glad to be part of Digiflex’s flexo platemaking journey.”
Rahul Dwivedi explains about MacDermid technolgy, “We have this new technology LUX ITP EPIC achieving LUX-like performance and characteristics without adding steps to the platemaking workflow. The game changing technology transforms the face of flexographic printing with the plate that provides flat-top dots right out of the box. The technology enables better ink transfer compared to other technologies. Then there is LUX ITP MELO – a super soft, sheet photopolymer plate which improves ink transfer, minimizes fluting and holds the finest detail for challenging corrugated substrates. Digiflex are very keen on quality and when they come to us they were absolutely satisfied with the results. They tried a couple of plates and finally chose MacDermid as partners.”
CDI to boost capacity for Sai
Bengaluru-based Sai Enterprises bought another Esko imager, this time a CDI Spark 4260 to boost capacity. It’s their third CDI with the earlier being CDI 4835 models. Sai Enterprises has plans to start production at its recently acquired plant in Tripur, and hence one of the existing CDIs would be shifted to this plant. “With the CDI 4260, we will be able to optimise quality in both narrow as well as wide-web segment, and produce high-quality flexographic plates,” says N. Gopalakrishnan, Sai Enterprises.
