Label Manufacturers Association of India had their LMAI Conference 2023 at Hotel Leela Palace, Jaipur from 20-23 July 2023 after a gap of 4 years and the excitement was clearly evident in not only the organisers but also the attendees.
With most of the leading names in the label industry in attendance, there was a whiff of freshness all over at the LMAI Conference 2023. The president LMAI, Mr.Rajesh Nema started the conference with an inaugural address followed by key note address by Saurabh Agarwal of Avery Dennison, the platinum sponsors of the event. This was followed by a presentation on Label Expo Europe by Jade Grace, MD, Labelexpo Global Series. He invited all to attend the show in Brussels which will see a participation from over 600 exhibitors later this year. Manish Desai, the conference Chairperson set the ball rolling with the agenda for the next two days in his address. Mr.Ramesh Deshpande, one of the board of directors at LMAI was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the label industry in general and LMAI in particular.
The 2nd day ended with a power packed motivational address by none other than Boman Irani who successfully walked the audience through his own personal story of triumph amidst challenging circumstances all through his life. As is customary with all his talks, Boman ended his address with a beautifully sung Frank Sinatra song – “My Way” – kudos Boman!
The second day too had many very interesting and power packed sessions. We have tried to include quite a few of them below, for our readers. Overall it was an excellently organised event – good location, good hospitality and above all power packed to say the least. The entire LMAI team, led by Rajesh Nema and ably supported by Manish Desai and all others both on and off-the-stage, needs a big bright pat on their back! And oh yes, the “Roman” theme evening on the 3rd day was a big hit for the audience, though the delay to start was a bit unsettling.
The panel discussion on the third day included Ankit Gupta of Holostik, Hemant Paruchuri of Pragati Pack, Devendra Solanki of Sicon Packs, Rajeev Chatwal of Kwality Offset Printers, Upal Roy of Flint Group, Manish Kapoor of Nilpeter, Umesh Kagade of HP Indigo, and Sanjeev Sharma of Avery Dennison South Asia and was moderated by Harveer Sahni, MD, Weldon Celloplast and one of the board members of LMAI. The topic once again was woven around sustainability and why it is a ‘pinch-point’ amongst label printers. Sustainability may well be a penny or too expensive and that matters too in a price sensitive market like ours but all agreed on the fact that considering the grave situation the world is facing, all need to find innovative and creative ways to arrest the degradation and chip in our bit to the environment. As is usual in all panel discussions, the time is always short and the moderator has to curtail the questions in the list and the same happened here too.
