Orient takes up one of the largest 400sq.m. stall at PrintPack and will be showing all technologies under its belt. Rishab Kohli speaks in detail about their showcase.
Orient offers an array of printing machinery solutions since its inception in 1946. The company’s web offset presses have been in the market for decades and it offers these solutions up to a 50,000 cph speed and has supplied them across the globe for newspaper and book printing. “These presses are a staple and their technology in itself has revolutionised printing across the world and now, we also have our Orient X-Press series of flexographic printing presses from 330 mm wide to 1500 mm wide. These are some of the fastest presses in the world today and have key USP’s that differentiate them from any press in the world. The X-PRESS Flex series boasts key USP’s in its features such as our proprietary in-house Orient X-Gear design along with our unique custom cylinder assembly design ensuring excellent registration, market leading speeds, and world class print quality. Additionally, our presses also boasts options for sleeve technology that allows for quicker changeover and an extremely use friendly customer experience,” informs Rishab Kohli, the young and energetic MD of TPH Orient Group.
Their Orient jet digital machine series is claimed to be the most advanced printing machine ever made in India and is the result of years of collaboration with UK and Japanese based companies and Indian ingenuity. These presses come in two variants i.e., the Orient Jet L&P (Labels and packaging) series and the orient jet C series (commercial series) and these are available in a multitude of sizes from 220 mm to 2000 mm and can use water or uv based inks and can go up to 1200 dpi depending on the application be it labels, flexible packaging, mono cartons, book printing, newspaper printing (or commercial printing). “Our proprietary ink delivery system is the only ink delivery system ever made fully in India along with our proprietary in house software and our specially designed and highly efficient ink delivery system and consumables ensure lower operating expense and since our entire press is made fully in house our capex is also more efficient than other competitors” Rishab informs. “Additionally, our press is fully customizable and can be integrated with our orient x-press flex units at any time” he adds.
“Orient X-press fold is ours and India’s first ever fully made-in-India high speed automatic folder gluer and is fully customizable with speeds over 500m/min which are market leading globally,” Rishab proudly declares.
Talking about the year 2024 professionally for Rishab and his company, he termed it as excellent primarily due to a high number of exhibitions, including drupa and Label Expo. “These shows had allowed us to display and launch all our new technologies to the world and sell new presses and make a number of new agents as well,” says Rishab. Adding in the same breath he says that financially this has been the strongest year for TPH Orient since its inception in 1946 which is a proud moment for him personally and a testament to the group of people in the company. “We are especially proud of the introduction of our flexo and digital presses – we are proud of their launch as well as adoption by the industry which is testimony of Orient’s technological capabilities as well as the great promise these technologies hold in our markets,” Rishab emphasises.
His expectations from the ensuing year 2025 are going to be very big. “In the R&D space we are looking to work on a very big project and investment in the digital printing space to be launched in 2025/2026; in terms of sales we look to get more of our presses into the market and achieve market dominance as we did in many of our previous segments,” added Rishab. For him a key way to do this is by ensuring immense customer support and service. “A major issue that I find with our industry is that most equipment is not made in India. This makes the service to struggle for such equipment. Whereas, made in India equipment that is usually made by SME’s too struggle to keep the manpower to provide support. We are different, as we don’t suffer from any of these issues,” assures Rishab. “As such, outside of our excellent sales team and proven technology that we have, service is a key way to achieve the sales targets and market share numbers. Our key goal will be to provide customers with excellent service and support which I believe in the short and long term will help us gain immense market share,” he avows.
Rishab has fond memories of PrintPack that go back to his childhood. “Printpack is the first show I ever visited, not only as CEO of Orient but before that as a child with my father, Late MM Kohli, I came to the show,” he reminisces. Evidently, the show has an immense emotional and strategic importance for him and his group and it pretty shows considering the 400 sqm stall where TPH Orient will be showing 4 machines with 4 different technologies. “It sums up the years of hard work and R&D behind our PrintPack India 2025 showcase. I believe, this will be the most important show we have ever done,” he says.
When asked what he would personally like to see at the show as a visitor, he said, “I will specifically be looking for finishing solutions as those are things our customers need”. While as an exhibitor, we will be showing all of the technologies under our belt; specifically a new web offset press with a bearer-to-bearer system, an ARC, a 1:2:2 folder, AC motors and many new features,” says Rishab. Orient will also be showing its high speed folder gluer along with the X-Press flex 1000 mm in line flexo press with sleeve type technology which is the first of its kind made in India for paper and flexible packaging. Another showcase includes the UV based inkjet press for labels and Orient’s water based inkjet press for book printing.
Orient will be running all these presses live making this one of the biggest shows TPH Orient or any other company in India has ever put on. It will be a grand scene to watch TPH Orient for those who want to learn from an Indian company about the Indian products they have developed over the last many years for the Indian and worldwide printing and packaging industry. Way to go Rishab!
