Focusing Inkjet
“The Commercial Digital Print market is growing, but our focus is on the Inkjet side, especially for special applications like Label and Packaging and Variable Data Printing,” comments T. P. Jain, MD, Monotech India.
He informs that they are developing solutions on their Jet-SCI Industrial Inkjet Solutions platform. Having provided customized solutions with over 100 installations in India and abroad, they are now launching two products based on this platform which will be full fledged Inkjet Label presses for Book Printing and Statement Printing. “In the Wide Format segment, we find that Flat-bed UV Printers are getting traction in the market for more and more industrial applications. These are the areas we are now focusing on – in the Nano-format for the Packaging and Label market and the Wide-format for the Industrial Printing market,” adds Jain.
Recent economic policy shake-ups by government have affected the businesses across the country though each to a different level. The demonetisation effect was felt till March and GST implementation has too slowed down the business flow in the industry. “Generally we do not have much of cash and carry business. But, because of the down beat sentiment which prevailed during the demonetisation period, our business was affected, though for a very short period. From March onwards it was normal once again till the implementation of GST in July,” shares Jain.
He hopes things to settle down positively in the approaching months. “We hope normalcy to return once again from the last quarter of this year. We are very positive about the GST Act; our customers and getting benefited because we are able to lower our prices by passing on the benefits of CVD to them. The entire industry is learning to understand the provisions of GST and its implementation procedures and that is why the business has slowed down in the last two months. Going forward we are sure this GST will benefit all the businesses across the country,” he asserts.
Jet SCI – a complete ‘make in India’ platform
Already working towards the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the government, Monotech’s machines made on the Jet-SCI platform is completely made in India. “We have now tied up with GM of Denmark to use their platform for manufacturing Inkjet Label Printers in India. GM is a major supplier of Transport and Finishing equipments for Label Printing for customers worldwide. GM will now source these equipments from us in future. In the Wide-format segment also we are manufacturing some products in India. There are two more projects in the pipeline for indigenous manufacture, the details of which we will shortly announce to the industry. So our focus is to build products on Inkjet technology in India. We have already started exporting these products to six countries. We are committed to produce more and more products in India for the international as well as domestic markets,” explains Jain.
Monotech’s last year’s business growth figures stand at around 30% and Jain looks forward to register similar growth this year as well.
