Staying strong on the topic of “Sustainability” of tools on a Flexo press, Niraj Muni of Maxcess International at the recent LMAI Conference in Jaipur, showcased data that reflected the current condition of rotary tools at the customer’s end and how they can continue to use the same tools without facing a cutting issue that eventually results in material wastage. Taking this further, he announced that the company will soon start with repairing services for cylinders both magnetic as well as anvil cylinders. There are more than 1200 flexo presses in India and each machine has an average of eight magnetic cylinders and two anvils which comes to about 9,600 magnetic cylinders and 2,400 anvils. With an estimated annual addition of about 70 new flexo presses in the country, takes the numbers to about 560 magnetic cylinders and 140 anvils, so about 12,000 tools in all which will only increase in the coming years. A printer can repair and/or reuse the same tools instead of buying a new one, resulting in tool cost savings while maintaining their machines in perfect condition, he concluded.
