At LMAI Conference 2023, Pawandeep Sahni, Director OMET India, gave his presentation on OMET which is represented by Weldon. “Package Printing is one of the few industries that impact billions of consumers, and has stood the test of times in the present tough conditions,” says Pawandeep. “We firmly think that the time has come and the one who acts early will be at advantage,” he adds.
OMET offers a range of machines for the label industry. The OMET solutions support Sustainability, Creativity and Innovation which are the needs of the hour for the labeling industry. The rules of the games are changing faster than ever, consequently, global leaders have already pivoted their sustainable business models, creativity goals and innovation teams. “Today a packaging printer needs flexo, gravure, screen, offset, digital and embellishments in a box/ label/ carton and OMET has solutions for you and that too in a single machine which makes the operations ever more agile. It has top level sustainable standards in the market with capabilities that make you take a lead today whilst keeping in mind your needs of tomorrow,” he shares. We have heard enough that ‘what can get digital will get digital’. But we must understand that digital products do not make money while digital services do, says Pawandeep giving examples of Spotify, Airtel and AWS. He also urged printers to move beyond the CMYK with adapting to innovations like metallics, decoratives, varnishes, barriers, special effects, primers, coating, VDP, AR, VR etc. to beat the competition. PACKERTING – packaging and marketing according to him would be the new future of packaging with packaging not just remaining a pack but providing information on the product like information, engagement with the customer, consumption matrix, repurchase statistics as well as be a source of authenticity as well. “Awesomely created packaging is indeed the future but a printer’s topline will be defined by the differentiation one creates over competitors; meanwhile the bottomline will be defined by the process you choose to manufacture,” he announces. Rather than being a Part-of-the-Pack, he urged printers to be ‘BaaP’ of pack’ where BaaP stands for Brand as a Platform. Interestingly ‘Baap’ in Hindi means father – clever coinage!
