The first sophisticated Printech Park Cluster was unveiled on January 20 at the Harohalli Industrial Center in Ramanagar district of the Karnataka state. Industry Minister Jagadish Shettar launched the program organized by the Karnataka State Printers Association. India ranks fourth in the world in the printing industry with over 3 lakh units in the country. Printech Park is an innovative experiment, the first in the country. It has invested over 100 crores in development projects and provided the best infrastructure.
The printing center is located on 57 acres of land. It boasts the state-of-the-art machinery and equipment installed at a cost of Rs 27 crore.
Jagdish Shettar said that Industrial Clusters will create more job opportunities. Speaking at the inauguration of the Printech Park Cluster and Common Facilities Centre at Harohalli Industrial Area, he said, “More and more clusters will avoid people migrating from one place to another in search of a job. Industrial clusters are starting up in different parts of the state and the first operational Printech Cluster has started in Harohalli, Ramanagar district today and this industry intends to do more work in a short time using modern printing machines.”
CR Janardhana, the Chairman of the Print Cluster as well as Print park consisting of almost 97 acres and a very proactive member and past president of Karnataka State Printers Association (KSPA) stated that their 92 members have been allotted land in the cluster of plot sizes varying from 1 acre to quarter acres as per the demand of the members. The park also has a Common Facility Center wherein the latest Heidelberg machines are installed and is intended to provide training to printers in the region. “After enormous efforts by our team we have been able to get it up and running the park has the wherewithal to make up a turnover of Rs.1000 crores when in it’s full potential and give employment to about 6000 people in the entire region in addition to revenues to the local and state governments” said Janardhana. He was elated while expressing that the park has allotted to its 92 members at Rs.170 per square feet (while incidentally the current rate of land is about Rs.2000 per square feet) which is a help to our members who are all small and medium printers from the region. “Despite facing major issues implementing the project after the implementation of GST, Janardhana and his team were been able to take it to the point where it has now been inaugurated and is on its path to see the light for its members” said Mr.Ashok, an active member of Janardhana’s team.
Dayaker Reddy Sripathi, President IPAMA too was at Harohalli Industrial Area during the inauguration of the Printech Park. He comments, “I am quite thrilled to attend in person and in my official capacity, this prestigious inauguration of Printech Park as well as Common Facilities Centre at Bangalore, especially in my first visit after 20th March 2020. I am sure that this inspiring and epoch making project at a cost of Rs.27 crores will stand as a beacon of light and hope in an otherwise virus infected and discouraging year gone by.”
Printech Park Cluster has state-of-the-art Heidelberg Speedmaster CS 92 4+L, Four Colour Press with coater, Suprasetter A 106 CtP Equipment, Polar 115 PF Cutting Equipment and Stahlfolder CH 78 Folding Equipment.

Such facilities promote print as an industry and gains importance of printing as an industry per se. Heard it through the grapevine that more printing associations are planning to create such clusters – indeed a good news in these times!
