
To celebrate the 62nd birth anniversary of Kerala on 1st November 2018, Lions Club International organised a literary festival titled Amma Malayalam at Kollam. With the aim to promote Malayalam literature and book reading among the younger generation, the Club organised the programme at the Kollam Public Library Hall. The event was attended by many prominent personalities from the field of arts, culture and literature. The high point of the function was the world record simultaneous release of 584 books, which comprised recently printed Malayalam books.


The Chief coordinator of this mega event was IPP S. Saji. Recognising printers as the key bridge between the writer and the reader, the Lions Club invited KMPA to the programme. KMPA President R. Gopakumar, Coordinator O. Venugopal, Secretary Biju Jose, former Secretary Rajesh G. and former Treasurer Yeldho K. George attended the programme on the Association’s behalf. Speaking at the function, O. Venugopal highlighted the importance of the printing fraternity in the development of literature around the world. R. Gopakumar spoke to the print media and channels about the importance of this event.
