The order placed at the recent drupa exhibition will soon accomplish and equip SV GraFIX’s Vapi facility meeting the increasing demand for Flexcel NX plates.
Indian flexo trade shop SV GraFIX, sister company of Seeta Polymers, placed an order for a Flexcel NX System and PureFlexo Printing from Miraclon at drupa 2024. According to Tanga Chettiyar, Managing Director, “The latest Miraclon equipment will be installed at our factory in Vapi, Gujarat.” The investment will address the rapidly increasing market demand for Flexcel NX plates in the region. The equipment supports a size of up to 42 x 60 inches.
“The decision to install the equipment from Miraclon was simple for us,” says Karthikeyan Chettiyar, Director at SV GraFIX. “Since we already had equipments to produce Lams based flexo plates, Flexcel NX System is different technology. Every Printer/converter has specific demand for plates. As Flexo Plate trade shop, we need to understand specific demands from different segments of flexo printers,” he adds.
“CI Flexo is experiencing strong growth in our region, with printers competing to deliver a superior product while simultaneously improving their own productivity and bottom line. Flexcel NX Plates are widely regarded as the plate of choice to achieve better ink densities and laydown, increase press speeds and maximize overall press productivity. We’re pleased that we can now address that demand,” he explains.
“We chose Flexcel NX System because it’s a proven technology for better print results, for example, the use for multi-form plate patterning technology to resist the tendency of ink to spread during the printing process with lower dot gain and reduced ink build up,” adds Tanga Chettiyar.
The company also invested in PureFlexo Printing, which enables the use of multi-form patterning technology from Miraclon to resist the tendency of ink to spread during printing, with lower dot gain and reduced ink build-up. Accessed through Flexcel NX Print Suite for flexible packaging, it enables cleaner print, more predictable colour, and greater press efficiency on every job.
“We’re excited to introduce our customers to the added benefits of PureFlexo Printing and show them what’s possible with these multi-form patterns,” says Chettiyar. “I’m confident that this will not only drive a lot of business growth for us in the months to come but also for our customers.”
Mr. Madhavan Chettiyar started a flexo plate repro house in the year 2000 in Vapi. Initially the business produced hand carved printing blocks used for printing corrugated sheets and woven sacks bags. Later Mr Karthikeyan joined the business. Then they started making photopolymer flexo plates using the conventional film exposure method. Mr Tanga Chettiyar joined the family business in 2013. “In 2016 we invested in a digital flexo imager from flexo laser, we started to cater different segments of flexo printers, from narrow web printers, carry bag printers, tags, dry offset printing etc. We continued to invest in equipments for producing better quality plates, Currently we have flexo plate imagers from Xsys and Eastcom and Processing equipments from S.w.a.n. Our prepress Software workflow is from Esko. Miraclon will be the third processing line in our premises,” reveals Chettiyar.
Having a 42×60 size Xsys, a 50×80 size Eastcom and a 50×80 size swan processing equipment SV GraFIX currently caters to corrugated printers and narrow web printers. Equipped with the latest Miraclon solutions, they will be targeting wide web printers and label printers in near future. Multi-form Plate Patterning Technology as well as better Ink Transfer due to the patterning technology were the deciding factors to go for the latest solutions.
Since the processing time for Flexcel Plates is quicker with the Flexcel NX System, Karthikeyan expects to further boost their production efficiency.
The installation of Miraclon equipment is scheduled for August this year.
