Riding on the successful launch of key products last year, the company will have an ‘India Day’ at the upcoming drupa 2016.
Year 2015 has been good for Xerox. “We have grown at about 40 percent last year,” says Balaji Rajagopalan, Xerox. This growth figure denotes the production business of the company, which also attained the No.1 position in the IDC Report for second quarter of last year. Xerox rides on the success of its many new launches during the last year. It started with the launch of Versant 2100 in the last quarter of 2014. It was followed by a couple of high quality launches by Xerox. It launched Versant 80 in the first quarter of 2015. Other key launches include Xerox Color C60/70 and Xerox Color Press 1000i. “We launched the products addressing the whole application and market range. These machines address from entry level production to mid production and high production. This gave us a clear edge in the market as the products we brought in have great power saving capability. For example, Color C60/70 can save from 30 to 50 paise per print as compared to other similar technologies in the market. This is a big saving,” says Balaji.
“The C70/C60 deliver cutting edge reduction in energy consumption with 1/4th the electricity costs of similar presses available in the market. The newly developed, heat-efficient IH fuser does not require preheating, which helps reduce power consumption, also the power consumption of the scanner using LED lighting is 1/3rd of traditional scanners. Besides offering cost efficiencies, it also has the widest range of applications in this market space, including ability to print on tear resistant and naturally waterproof Never-tear Media making it ideal for printing frequently used documents like Menus, Maps or instructions. It also runs synthetic media with optional permanent or removable adhesive for use as window stickers or polyester signs. Printing carbonless paper is an ideal way to create multipart forms in pre-collated coloured sets, transfer papers, magnets and many other unique applications are made possible with Xerox’s low melt toner & flexible paper path,” adds Balaji.
Another key launch, the Versant series targets the photo market in India. “The most attractive thing about the Versant 80 and Color 1000i is that these machines bring some of the interesting features of iGen series to mid production,” emphasises Balaji. The Versant 80 has registered a great success in FY15. It was launched around mid-2015. The press provides production press capabilities with offset-quality performance and automated features that remove the guesswork from optimizing image quality and registration. The Versant 80 offers Ultra HD 2400 x 2400 imaging resolution and 1200 x 1200 x 10bit RIP rendering resolution (four times more pixels than the standard) for exceptionally fine details in graphic fills, sweeps, line art and text. It also leverages 10-bit architecture for stunning smooth vector gradients. It can handle a variety of media types with a compact Belt Fuser system and Xerox’s EA Low Melt Dry Ink which supports an incredible array of substrates with superior mixed media, low-density colour and mixed colour/black performance.
Offered in true Pantone metallic gold or silver specialty dry inks, the Color 1000i Press gives print companies a creative, competitive advantage. With increased automation, the device keeps print environments at peak performance levels. The Colour Press 1000idevice includes an optional Specialty Dry Ink Station that enhances documents with metallic gold or silver dry inks or applies spot or flood creative effects with clear dry ink. The 1000i can migrate lucrative foil stamping applications, such as invitations, certificates and business cards, to short-run, high-value digital production. Multi-pass printing with clear ink adds an extra textural/dimensional feel and the “pop” of the silver and gold inks. “We have also launched a 4-colour option with Color 1000i. Another key product is iGen5. It has got a good response from customers and has 7-colour – in addition to spot colours, it has orange, green and blue,” says Balaji.
“We are present in every space of Digital Printing. Xerox has been a total solutions provider that believes in – live with Xerox and grow with Xerox. We have been very clear in our objective – to be one of the top two players – that we strive to keep,” he asserts.
Xerox will have a great showcase at the upcoming drupa. Apart from the flagship iGen5 and Impika, there will be a host of solutions in the software, packaging and digital arena. “We will be there at drupa with our team, partners and will be having an ‘India Day’ as well,” informs Balaji.

Helping Print Service Providers Transform and Grow
Print service providers looking to expand offerings and increase revenue have opportunities for growth in production colour inkjet, digital packaging applications and investing in workflow solutions. According to InfoTrends:
- Global production colour inkjet print volume is expected to grow 23.0 percent through 2019.
- Digital printing of packaging applications is expected to grow 22.5 percent through 2019.
- Expanding workflow features to offer new services is the top workflow initiative for print service providers.
Xerox is helping providers capture these key market opportunities with the unveiling of new products and other innovative offerings at drupa 2016, in Dusseldorf, Germany. With a theme “Let the Work Flow,” Xerox is gearing up to showcase how providers can solve their biggest challenges, propel business forward and work better by becoming more automated, integrated and productive in their operations.
An array of production print devices, workflow solutions, business development resources and high-value applications segments – such as direct mail, catalogues, books, transactional marketing, photos and packaging – will be on display in the Xerox stand. Attendees will learn how automated, integrated end-to-end solutions are strengthening and transforming operations.
“We recognize the shift that’s occurring in the printing market and our commitment is to help providers embrace change.
